Release description
*** REPRESS ALERT *** This month Gil Scott-Heron's final studio album turns ten, so XL Recordings has decided to mark the occasion with a couple of special releases. Beat-maker Makaya McCraven has prepared a fully remixed and reworked version, while the London label has also decided to offer up this double-disc deluxe edition of the inspired original album. "I'm New Here" remains a vital work - one of Scott-Heron's best, we would argue - with the brilliance of his thought-provoking beat poetry and emotional sung vocals being matched by the quality of the deft, inventive 21st century backing tracks conjured up by producer Richard Russell and a wealth of superb musicians. You'll find the bonus material on disc two, with alternate versions and studio-based live recordings being joined by two previously unheard cuts.
