Back in 2015, Imogen offered up a 12" featuring two rubs of fresh Brand New Heavies tracks by label co-founder Ilija Rudman. Five years on, they've decided to repeat the exercise, this time on a 7" single, with the long-serving Croatian applying his magic touch to cuts from the legendary British jazz-funk band's 2019 set TBNH. On the A-side he delivers a near perfect, cowbell-laden, stripped-back disco rework of 'Beautiful', which comes topped off by a superb lead vocal from Beverly Knight. Over on the flip he gets his mitts on jazz-funk-meets-disco-funk number, 'The Funk Is Back', successfully stripping it back and emphasizing the track's excellent instrumentation and floor-slaying percussion breaks.
