Mike Grant's Moods & Grooves is a label that offers up house music as real as it gets. For its next outing, it looks across the pond to Andu Simion, a DJ and producer from Ploiesti, Romania and co-founder of the Lisiere Collectif project. He impresses from the off, and 'Code Shot' gets underway with bubbly bass and crispy kicks that ooze authentic Detroit goodness. 'Mikronium' is a more carefully reduced menial house brew with gurgling synths panning about the mix over sparse, taught kick drum pings. Distant synths speak to cosmic vastness, and it's a heady trip for cosy back rooms. 'Sugar Rush' shuts down with another cavernous space run through with kicks, alien motifs and a sense of tension and suspense that slowly builds.
