Just over 30 years after it first started appearing in New York record stores, one of Daniel Wang's most beloved early EPs gets a remastered reissue. Created at a point when he was still learning his craft as a producer (he owned little more than a sampler and a couple of basic synths), the six tracks combined his deep-rooted love of disco culture with nods to the tactile deep house warmth of Pal Joey, the Burrell Brothers, and the organ-rich garage-house sounds of New Jersey dons the Basement Boys. Deep, sample-rich, tactile, melodious and evocative, some of its synth-heavy tracks sound like blueprints for what became the nu-disco sound of fellow New York residents Metro Area. More than that, it remains a genuinely brilliant six-track missive that has undoubtedly stood the test of time.
