Release description
Back To Life resurrects a key frame in Canadian house with a refresher reissue of 'Metamorphasis', the 1991 debut 12" on Ron Allen and Hayden Andre's Strobe Records and the first outing for their joint alias Infra-Red. Allen, a Toronto producer who soni-coined a jazz-aware strain of deep house on his own Phuture Funk imprint; and Andre, known for his crystalline piano work and precise drum programming; sketched out a six-track set full of thrustered jets and sonic booming synth plumes, and which still feels forward to this day. The Hayden Andre mix of 'Metamorphasis' bathes its chords in gauzy warmth, while the R2R take stiffens the pulse. 'Spectre' nods toward bleep, and 'Falling From The Light' appears in two contrasting versions, before 'Calibrate This' closes with much cooler machine poise.
