Release description
It feels fitting that Running Back's most ambitious 'Mastermix' retrospective to date should focus on garage-house great Tony Humphries and the late 80s/early 90s period in which he was resident at Club Zanzibar in New Jersey and on New York's Kiss FM. There's naturally plenty of high-grade material to be found on this second volume, a triple-vinyl affair that boasts such must-check gems as Jolanda's early US garage classic 'Make My Body Rock', the weighty and stripped-back thrust of Precious's 'Definition of a Track', the pioneering deep bleep of Man Machine ('Electro-Genetik', mixed by Forgemasters), an unreleased, previously acetate-only Kerri Chandler jam, the organ-rich garage-house bounce of The Brotherhood, and a rare, Robert Owens-sporting Chicago house workout remixed by the late, great Ron Hardy (The It's 'Donnie').
