Groovin' Records latest must-check reissue takes us back to the turn of the millennium and the most successful single from Chicagoan deep house/Latin house fusionist Rafeal Rodriguez aka Lego. First released in 1999 and reissued a year later with fresh rubs, 'El Ritmo De Verdad' is a prime slice of Latin disco/chunky deep house fusion rich in heady hand percussion, snaking saxophone motifs, taut female vocals and relentless bass guitar. The producer's own peerless extended mix comes backed by its most celebrated rework, a killer revision from Sheffield two-some Swag. Their take is deeper, warmer and much more loose-limbed rhythmically, sitting somewhere between Jazzanova productions of the period and their similarly inspired remix of Metro Area classic 'Pina'. 26 years on, the remix has lost none of its shine; it still sounds as infectious and floor-friendly now as it day back in 2000.
